Nâzım Hikmet Culture and Art Foundation

The Nâzım Hikmet Culture and Art Foundation, was established by the poet’s sister, Samiye Yaltırım, who became its first President. The founders completed all legal formalities and initiated activities on May 22, 1991.

THE OBJECTIVES OF THE FOUNDATION:

To build a Centre which will house a collection of books, periodicals, articles and other published works by or about Nâzım Hikmet, as well as the originals or copies of manuscripts, letters, photographs, drawings, paintings, statues, films, music pieces, monuments, etc., concerning the poet.
To research and publicize his works.
To make a contribution to the advancement of art, culture and education in Turkey and throughout the world by supporting relevant creative efforts in those fields.

PROPOSED ACTIVITIES INCLUDE:

a) Establishment of centres of culture, art museums, institutes, research and development units.
b) Publications.
c) Meetings, seminars, conferences, lectures, panel discussions, symposia, etc., for cultural and artistic purposes.
d) Prizes to encourage creative efforts in art and learning.
e) Competitions in those fields.
f) Educational courses, support for institutions of learning and research.
g) Co-operation with individuals or institutions in Turkey and throughout the world in all endeavours of a cultural and artistic nature.
